That being said, the vehicles and terrain are beautiful and I love the fact you can drive through the day and night. They feel the part and the only grumps I had with them were I felt the detail on the mud stuck to the tires could have been a bit better and I had no view through my wing mirrors. The graphics on show in Spintires: Mudrunner are solid. You’ll need this especially stuck in a fast-moving river that’s current is trying to force you downriver. Also all vehicles have a winch system attached to them which is invaluable trust me. You can upgrade your vehicles in the garage to give them trailers etc which is something to do as soon as possible. Although you will get a shock as I did when I hit a tree and killed my engine. You do feel almost indestructible to mother natures forces when you’re in them. That said I did LOVE driving all those huge vehicles. I would have loved more direction in career mode as it was a frustrating experience. While I did that I made a point of visiting the watch towers on the way as they open up your map so it’s not just black. I spent the first hour driving round the bog opening up the various vehicles on offer. You start of in the middle of the woods with no idea what your meant to be doing. If you want daunting then this is the place to go. Next for Spintires: Mudrunner is the single player career mode. I couldn’t see any reflection so i hope this is corrected on release or in a day one patch. I failed this one as even though the truck has wing mirrors the mirrors didn’t actually work. The star I missed out on was reversing my truck and trailer into the required space while inside the view of my cab. I don’t know if it will be altered in the final release, I hope it does. I only managed two stars in the first challenge. Each star represents a goal within the challenge. After several choice words to myself I did start to get the hang of it. I battled the camera all the way to begin with.

Maybe its just me but at first I struggled even driving in a straight line. The driving in this game is a lot harder than I expected.

Yes back to front I know but I do like a challenge. Initially I started with the challenge mode. The game physics and simulation level are top-notch and I don’t have any real life experience off-road either. Thankfully Spintires: Mudrunner has a tutorial to start with. I put on my best trucking hat and picked up my controller and now I’m ready to roll. Lets find out shall we? Keep On Truckin Gameplay I always thought I could drive anything in the game world but having seen some of these behemoths I’m now unsure. It has a very niche section of the gaming community very excited with its huge Soviet-era trucks tackling all terrains. Spintires: Mudrunnerby Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive is available from today on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and through Steam.
